THE DOUBLE PUNISHMENT OF COVID-19
Like several African countries, Cameroon is an important epicenter of the COVID-19 crisis on the continent. The country is politically and economically unstable, resulting in increased hardship and people fleeing armed conflicts to unaffected areas. The COVID-19 outbreak has caused increased suffering, especially in rural villages.
As one of the most-affected African countries, given their limited access to good health facilities, the number of affected persons could triple among women, elders and people with underlying health conditions due to lack of information on COVID-19.
CDVTA response to COVID-19 is establishing an educational framework in hard-to-reach rural communities by training and supporting community volunteers to sensitize and educate vulnerable populations on prevention measures.
